SIDESEEN PRIVACY POLICY

SIDESEEN PRIVACY POLICY

SIDESEEN PRIVACY POLICY

Effective September 5, 2026

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

SIDESEEN documents the culture around women’s sport. This Privacy Policy explains how SIDESEEN collects, uses, stores and shares information when you visit thisisparq.com, join our email list, participate in SIDESEEN projects, submit information to us, or otherwise interact with SIDESEEN.

We believe collecting information creates a responsibility to handle it with care.

Information you give us

Depending on how you interact with SIDESEEN, you may provide information such as:

- your email address when you subscribe to SIDESEEN communications or VOLUME;

- your name and contact information when you contact SIDESEEN;

- information you voluntarily provide through SIDESEEN CONVO, ATLAS, TELL SIDESEEN SOMETHING, consent forms, surveys, submissions or other participation;

- photographs, quotations, stories, memories, recommendations, locations, rituals, routes or other material you choose to share with us;

- consent and permissions associated with participation in SIDESEEN photography, interviews or editorial projects; and

- other information you voluntarily send to SIDESEEN.

If SIDESEEN begins selling OBJECTS or other products directly through thisisparq.com, we may also collect information necessary to process and fulfill purchases, such as billing, shipping and transaction information. This policy will be updated as necessary when those services are introduced.

Information collected when you use the site

Our website platform may process technical information necessary to operate, secure and understand use of the site.

SIDESEEN currently uses Framer to build and operate thisisparq.com. Framer provides privacy-focused website analytics that may provide SIDESEEN with aggregated information such as page views, traffic sources, countries, device types and general site activity. Framer states that its built-in analytics do not use cookies or persistent identifiers to identify individual visitors.

Forms may also transmit information you choose to submit to SIDESEEN. Framer supports form delivery to destinations including email, Google Sheets and webhooks, depending on how a form is configured.

2. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

SIDESEEN may use information to:

- send requested emails, publications, announcements and updates;

- operate and improve thisisparq.com;

- respond to messages and inquiries;

- administer CONVO and other SIDESEEN participation;

- review tips, recommendations and submissions for possible editorial follow-up;

- research and document the culture around women’s sport;

- maintain SIDESEEN’s photographic and editorial archive;

- understand how people use and discover SIDESEEN;

- administer events, gatherings, projects or opportunities;

- process and fulfill transactions if commerce is introduced;

- protect SIDESEEN, our participants and our website from fraud, abuse or security threats;

- comply with legal obligations; and

- otherwise carry out a purpose explained when information is collected.

Providing SIDESEEN with information does not guarantee that a submission will be published, photographed, investigated or included in the SIDESEEN record.

3. EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS

If you provide your email address to receive SIDESEEN communications, we may send you VOLUME, editorial updates, information about SIDESEEN OBJECTS, HOUSE gatherings, new projects and other SIDESEEN communications.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe method included in those messages.

Unsubscribing from marketing communications may not prevent SIDESEEN from sending necessary transactional, administrative or legal communications.

4. SIDESEEN CONVO AND EDITORIAL PARTICIPATION

SIDESEEN CONVO is an ongoing photographic record of people around the game.

Participation may involve information beyond ordinary website use, including photographs, a first name, quotations, interview responses, location/context information and consent records.

Where SIDESEEN requests specific permission for photography, interviews, quotations or other editorial uses, those permissions are governed by the consent or release presented in connection with that participation.

This Privacy Policy does not replace a photographic release, interview consent, contributor agreement or other specific permission where one is required.

5. ATLAS AND COMMUNITY SUBMISSIONS

SIDESEEN ATLAS is a living photographic geography of the culture around women’s sport.

People may tell SIDESEEN about a place, ritual, route, memory, object, encounter or something changing or disappearing.

Submitting something to SIDESEEN does not automatically place it in the public record.

The community supplies knowledge. SIDESEEN supplies authorship.

SIDESEEN remains editorially responsible for what enters the record.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information about another person or information you do not have the right to share.

6. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION

SIDESEEN does not sell personal information or email lists.

We may disclose information to service providers that help us operate SIDESEEN, such as website hosting, form processing, email delivery, data storage, payment processing or other infrastructure providers.

Those providers may process information only as necessary to provide their services to SIDESEEN and subject to their own applicable terms and privacy obligations.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

- comply with law or legal process;

- protect the rights, safety or security of SIDESEEN or others;

- investigate fraud or misuse; or

- facilitate a merger, acquisition, restructuring or transfer of SIDESEEN’s business or assets, subject to applicable law.

Editorial publication is different from service-provider sharing. If you participate in a SIDESEEN editorial project, photographs, quotations or other material may be published according to the permissions associated with that project.

7. COOKIES AND ANALYTICS

SIDESEEN currently relies on Framer’s built-in analytics. Framer states that this system does not use cookies or persistent identifiers and does not collect information that identifies an individual visitor.

Accordingly, SIDESEEN does not currently use a cookie banner solely for Framer Analytics.

If SIDESEEN later introduces third-party services or scripts that use cookies or similar tracking technologies, we will update our disclosures and, where required, provide appropriate consent controls.

8. DATA RETENTION

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain legitimate business and editorial records, to comply with legal obligations, and to protect SIDESEEN’s rights.

Some SIDESEEN material is intentionally archival.

Photographs, interviews, consent records, publication records and related contextual metadata may therefore be retained for extended periods when necessary to preserve the integrity, provenance and rights history of SIDESEEN’s photographic and editorial archive.

Marketing-email information may be retained as necessary to maintain unsubscribe and suppression records.

9. SECURITY

SIDESEEN uses reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the information we maintain.

No method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and SIDESEEN cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. YOUR CHOICES AND PRIVACY RIGHTS

You may contact SIDESEEN to request information about personal information we maintain about you, or to request correction or deletion where applicable.

Depending on where you live, privacy law may provide additional rights concerning access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction or objection to certain processing.

SIDESEEN will evaluate requests according to applicable law and may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

Editorial, archival, legal and freedom-of-expression considerations may affect whether particular material can or must be deleted.

11. CHILDREN

SIDESEEN’s website and general email communications are not directed to children under 13, and SIDESEEN does not knowingly seek to collect personal information online from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.

Photography or participation involving minors may require separate consent or permission appropriate to the project and circumstances.

12. THIRD-PARTY LINKS

SIDESEEN may link to websites, social platforms, venues, organizations or other third parties.

SIDESEEN does not control those third parties’ privacy practices. Their collection and use of information is governed by their own policies.

13. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

SIDESEEN may update this Privacy Policy as the project, website and business evolve.

When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required by law.
